The Jets are trading wide receiver Mike Williams to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a fifth-round pick, as first reported by NFL Network.
Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was doing his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” when the news broke.

“Mike’s a quiet guy, just kind of goes about his business,” Rodgers said. “Mike had a rough injury last year, ACL, that’s tough to come back from. He worked his ass off all offseason, wasn’t around for a lot of training camp, he was working on the side. But I felt like he was getting better in the earlier part of the season, felt like his speed was getting better … Mike’s a good guy, he’ll be good in that locker room. Obviously a lot of great veteran leadership, he’s had a nice career. And sometimes change of scenery is great for certain guys.
Williams signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the Jets this offseason but became an odd man out when the team traded for Davante Adams. In nine games with the Jets, Williams had just 12 catches for 166 yards and zero touchdowns. He and Rodgers never really established the connection.
However, receiver Allen Lazard is currently on the injured list, so if another injury hits, the the Jets will be very thin at the position.
